Dual Credential Pathway: BC Dogwood Diploma + German Abitur Preparation
Our program aligns the British Columbia (BC) Graduation Requirements with a rigorous German academic track. Students can earn BC high-school credits while preparing for Germany’s external Abitur examinations — without duplicating work.
Language:
Instruction primarily in German for Abitur subjects; BC courses and selected assessments available in English to meet provincial standards.
Core subjects: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical & Health Education, Career Education, Arts/ADST.
Electives: World languages (German, French, Spanish, Latin), Computer Science, advanced Sciences, Humanities, Arts.
Credit system: 80 credits total (incl. required Grade-12 credits).
Delivery: Online/hybrid, with proctored online exams where applicable.
Subjects: German, Mathematics, Foreign Language(s), Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts, Ethics/Religion + two Advanced Courses (Leistungskurse).
Delivery: Humboldt Fernschule (Germany) prepares students for state Externenprüfung at German public schools.
Outcome: German Abitur awarded upon passing the external state exams.
Proctored Online Exams
Assessments are carried out through proctored online exams, in addition to assignments, tests, and projects throughout the courses. All examinations follow the standards of the BC Ministry of Education.
Prüfungen und Leistungsnachweise erfolgen durch proctored Online-Exams sowie begleitende Assignments, Tests und Projekte. Diese Prüfungen werden nach den Standards des BC Ministry of Education durchgeführt.
Examinations are taken as official external state exams in Germany, conducted at public schools. Humboldt Fernschule provides thorough preparation for both written and oral exams.
Die Prüfungen werden als staatliche Externenprüfungen in Deutschland an öffentlichen Schulen abgelegt. Die Humboldt Fernschule bereitet die Telnehmer umfassend auf die schriftlichen und mündlichen Prüfungen vor.
Admission Requirements
Students who have completed lower secondary education (e.g., Realschule or equivalent)
Adequate language proficiency: German for the Abitur, English for the BC Diploma
Motivation and ability to engage in independent online learning

Duration
Grades 10–12 (approx. 3 years), continuous coursework and online examinations
Academic year: Modular learning with regular assessment windows and designated exam periods at the end of each grade level
Klassen 10–12 (ca. 3 Jahre), laufende Kursleistungen und Online-Prüfungen
Jahresablauf: Unterricht in Modulen, regelmäßige Prüfungsfenster und klare Prüfungszeiträume am Ende der jeweiligen Jahrgänge
Abitur: Grades 10–13 (approx. 4 years), final external examinations in Grade 13 in Germany
Klassen 10–13 (ca. 4 Jahre), Abschlussprüfungen in Klasse 13 in Deutschland
